Hockey Equipment

  • Minimum equipment required to play in shinny or league is
    • Helmet (face mask not required, mouthguard recommended if not using a mask)
    • Elbow pads
    • Gloves
    • Jock/Protective cup
    • Shin pads
    • Skates
    • 1 dark jersey, 1 white jersey
    • A stick
  • Your best option (quality, selection, price) for ice hockey equipment if you want to play in Shanghai is to bring it from your home country.
  • Failing that, player Hu Xu runs a hockey store in the XinYang market inside the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Metro stop on Line 2 (上海科技馆地铁站) in PuDong.  Huxu speaks limited English but if you point to the area you'd like to protect, you should be able to get what you want.

Youth Hockey 

Rinks

  • There are a number of rinks in Shanghai, but all SHC pick-up and games are played at the full size rink in Songjiang.  We have compiled a list of rinks for your reference.

Professional Hockey

  • There is a professional hockey team in Shanghai, the China Dragons,  they play in the Asia League.
