SHC Playoffs Dates set March 14-16 in Nanjing, Disciplinary Action Notice

DISCIPLINARY ACTION NOTICE

There was an incident on Decemeber 19 during a shinny session where two players who were were exchanging words and some shoving due to an exchange of slashes just previous. Upon seeing this a player on the bench jumped the boards and skated to the two players in the 'scuffle', he then shoved one of the two players and then proceeded to "tomohawk chop" the player on the head with his stick. Luckily the player receiving the "chop" was not hurt.

The SHC Executive board have deemed this a malicious intent to injure another player which could have resulted in a very serious injury. This type of behavior has been found unacceptable to the code-of-conduct in which the SHC plays.

The player involved has thus been informed that he will not be allowed further participation with the SHC for the remainder of the year.

-- The SHC is a sport/social club and our motto is to provide "an outlet of friendly competition in a social (beer drinking) environment eh!! "

I am all for rough play but intent purposefully to injure has No excuse. I believe this player should be banned for life or a vote taken upon the players for an earlier re-en statement. in this case i actually really like the player very much, he is a nice guy. But this view of fair play or view of hockey will never change, this is from my experience of more than 10 years in China and working with the China National team for 4 years in Harbin.
Maybe if we can find a way that he can really show his penitence maybe through volunteering or some other method i might be able to change my view. But this will happen again next year i am sure. and this time we might not be so lucky with injuries.

We can make him wear an orange jumpsuit and give him 100 hours of community service or something... maybe reading to blind kids or helping old ladies cross these dangerous shanghai streets

in addition, if said "chopper" is willing to go 5 (five) blindside cracks off the head, he should be allowed to be reinstated. after the beating we can drink beer and get a game of shinny going.
