Shanghai Hockey League |

The Shanghai Hockey League consists of 8 teams and 120 players that play scheduled games Fridays and Saturdays in the beautiful Olympic sized rink in Songjiang. Each game is officated by experienced volunteer referees. One very unique aspect of the Shanghai Hockey League is that no team has their own goalie (we don't have enough to go around). Instead goalies are drawn from a pool and assigned to each game on an as available basis. Each game has two 24 minute periods so the goalies change teams at half time to keep it fair. This unique aspect can lead to some interesting strategizing by coaches.
Each team plays every other team 21 times and the playoffs have tradionally been tournament style in Nanjing. Uniforms are supplied by the league as well as bus and beer service being provided by our sponsor Big Bamboo. |
